Stop playing around

This Sunday our pastor at college church began his sermon with one phrase, “Its God’s word, stop playing around.” Short, simple and to the point. It makes me beg the question, how hard are we really trying to turn our heads from sinful nature despite our human nature? I hear from myself and others on more than one occasion this illogical statement, “I really want to do better, be better, I know my heart is in the right place but I’m human and I sin.” Technically yes yes that’s true, we are sinful bt we are given free will for a reason. It is a test for us to one: decipher the right choice from the bad and two: make/follow through with the right one.  When we reach these forks in the road between what we should and shouldn’t do, how much do we reason and logic our way into choosing the bad but pleasurable one offering ourselves such excuses as  “I’m human, I sin” or “I want to change… and I will at some point.” Lets be honest, these statements to ourselves will continue our bad behavior for years, building a wall between you and the Lord, making it harder to actually stop. So I say this, there is no time like the present. You cannot do it on your own, ask for help and apply yourself to use your self control honorably. When you hear yourself begin to logic and lean towards sin, extend your view to the future you will hold when your sins become daily habbits. The future you will  hold will be a war lost by letting sin win all the small battles along the way. God will strengthen you, if you pray and pray and pray.
