Seesaw
I don't often suggest things to others, especially reading material seeing as I have a love for video games and movies... Books have been a past time. But one book I do keep up with is Jesus Calling. I would strongly suggest picking up a copy at your local Christian book store. While reading today's page I came across an idea that unthought I would share, it's about a seesaw. Naturally the laws of gravity and what not help is understand the seesaw we all loved as young children. I want to take a look at it's simple idea and apply it to our walks with Christ. One side goes up as the other goes down... Common knowledge. But how similar is that to our waivering trust in God? I remember as a kid loving the power of pushing off the ground as hard as I could and soaring towards the sky, then waiting for my friend to do the same so I could descend back toward the earth. What I realize now is the trust I had that my friend wouldn't let me stay lingering in mid air- I had to believe he would push off so i could come back down, and the cycle would start all over again. But let's out God on the other be of the seesaw... And use it as our metaphorical walk with God. When we push off the ground, and lose the control and power while we ascend, fear and worry follow, and we lose focus and trust of God at the other end who always brings us back down. And when He does, we are calm. In those moments in life when you feel up in the air, put of control and scared, focus on God and see it as a seesaw, Him on the other end. He WILL always be there, keeping you safe and bringing you down to earth when necessary. Keep the faith, and keep strong.
