The Rhythm of Love

Lately I have been doing a journal about Gods Love. . . Yes we have heard it hundred times "God is love." That we should be like Him, love like Him. But how exactly does one get motivated enough to love someone we'd rather wrestle an alligator then spend ten minutes with them? Let's start with Romans 5:5 where is says  "God pours his perfect love into my imperfect heart." It is, my friends one hundred percent possible to love anyone. We just have to be motivated enough to want it. I know personally it's easier most times to turn away. Shield our hearts from that kind of "work." I think sometimes it's because its easy for us to reject ourselves, to "under" love who we are. Impart making it impossible to love others. First let God love you, as shameful as you feel stepping into the pool of his Love, it's important to first feel unfailing love, and then give that to others. I want to start off this blog post with a very very important message from one of my favorite daily devotionals. The book is titled "Jesus Calling".... and this He does when you read this incredible novel. I opened mine this morning to June 5th not knowing what today's message would bring. But as God does, he brought exactly what I needed. Many of us strive to perfection, God himself says he instilled in us the drive to be so. I've been reading this really good book about our words, what we say, when we say it and especially how it comes across to others. I recommend it very highly, it's called "Keep It Shut" by Karen Ehman. In this book she searches for answers to what the effect our words have on others is after we have left them. Our words are like waves she voices... What kind of ripple effect do we leave when the conversation etc is over? It takes me to the hot summers at my lakehouse, how all I think about it getting out there to wakeboard 24/7. The way my board and I glide of the smooth liquid glass. Like a breath of fresh air as I lean down and skim the cold satin with my fingers. Not all rides are like this, many times I am forced to battle choppy water conditions. There are many stages to grief, all extremely important but very different. The whole idea of it is to accept the reality of what happened or is happening to you. There is one stage in particular that doesn't associate just with greif... DENIAL. We've all done it, spent too many minutes convincing ourselves or those around us of a statement/idea/notion that clearly stands on very shaky ground. It's a difficult thing to accept the truth, but it lies at the very heart of a couple solid traits that make or break our maturity. Humility, honesty, bravery, courage and strenght. All particularly impressive actions played out in movies, books and relationships. If we spent half as much time as we cuddling our sins and persuading ourselves it's ok as we did confessing them to God.. I fully believe those honorary traits we strive to have would become embedded parts of our nature. I think it would be a good idea to ask ourselves what the "sugar" of our lives is at this moment. Is it a guilty pleasure show on lifetime dropping with drama? Or maybe its something as simple as the hours you spend on Instagram or Pinterest. For me it's a new fashion peice or carving out time to play my video games at the end of the day. Yes I am an advocate for happiness and looking foward to hobby or habit. But as our lives grow and we begin to form our lives... Is God our main dose of sugar each day or is He the vegetable we "try" to fit in out diets each day? I know I should read my bible, do my devotions and attend church. But only in those moments do I really remember that I continuously forget about spending daily time with I God. A good focus for us all is to figure out a small way to not only make God a priority in our day like we do that warm chocolate chip cookie you can't wait to devour at the end of the day...
